Residential Children's Support Worker

Job Overview:

We are seeking compassionate and experienced Residential Children's Support Workers to provide high-quality care and support for a young person requiring 3:1 support within a residential setting. This role involves ensuring the safety, well-being, and development of children with complex needs, working closely with a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

✔ Provide day-to-day emotional and practical support to children in care.
✔ Implement and follow individual care plans tailored to the child's needs.
✔ Assist with daily routines, including meal preparation, personal care, and recreational activities.
✔ Maintain a safe and nurturing environment, ensuring the child's well-being at all times.
✔ Support the child in developing life skills and independence through structured activities.
✔ Implement positive behaviour management techniques, including de-escalation strategies.
✔ Complete detailed reports and keep accurate records of observations and interventions.
✔ Work collaboratively with social workers, therapists, and healthcare professionals.
✔ Adhere to all safeguarding policies and procedures to protect vulnerable children.

Essential Requirements:

Minimum 6 months experience in a residential childcare or similar support role.
Restraint training certification (CPI, PMVA, MAPA, or equivalent) is essential.
✔ Understanding of trauma-informed care and safeguarding procedures.
✔ Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.
✔ Strong communication and teamwork skills.
✔ A caring, patient, and resilient approach to supporting young people.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Driver preferred but not essential.

Desirable:

✔ NVQ Level 3 in Children & Young People Workforce or equivalent.
✔ Experience working with children with challenging behaviours, autism, or emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).
✔ First Aid certification.
